 Mr.
Pinney has spent his entire career working in the field of Industrial
and Marine Protective Coatings. He has worked as an
Owner preparing specifications and testing programs. He has
worked as both a
shop and field coating applicator providing services to both
industrial and marine clients. He serves as an Instructor for
both SSPC, The Society for Protective
Coatings and for NACE International (National
Association of Corrosion Engineers International).
These training classes provide training in basic corrosion,
inspection procedures, protective coating formulation and selection,
specification
preparation, coating program management and lead paint abatement.
In
1977, Mr. Pinney founded S. G. Pinney and Associates,
Inc. The company provided training, specification
preparation and review, engineering, inspection, both above
and below water,
and laboratory services solely in the field of protective
coatings. The company was sold in 1997. Mr. Pinney remained
as Chief Executive
Officer until 1999 when he formed Stephen G. Pinney,
PE, Inc. This company provides independent consulting
services to users of industrial and marine protective coatings.

The company is unaffiliated with any coating
applicator, manufacturer or consulting firm. As such, Mr. Pinney
is in a position
to provide unbiased opinions to his clients. Mr.
Pinney is a Registered Professional Engineer in
several states. He holds various certifications from both SSPC and
NACE and regularly participates in their technical activities. He
is past Chairman of ASTM Committee D-33, Coatings for the Power Generation
Industry and served as Chairman of the Education and Certification
